The Necronomnomnom - A Cookbook of Eldritch Horror

Created by Red Duke Games

Let us teach you the rituals to summon forth this Tome of Forbidden Victuals. Together, let us bring into existence... The NECRONOMNOMNOM!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Come Not Again in That Form!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 05, 2019 at 02:28:46 AM

Gentle Adepts and Resolute Investigators - the time draws nigh. The veil shifts to cloak this incarnation of The Necronomnomnom in time to make way for a new Tome to emerge. Our thanks is as eternal as your bond to The Book.

Several things of moment align, and truly the stars seem right.

Firstly, as far as we can tell and as far as you have told us - everyone we can reach has their complete pledge. IF you have been in contact with us separately, you may disregard this - as we are working on the final handful, mostly in Europe. DO feel free to check in. There *are* a very few backers we have had no response from, despite repeated attempts. Should this be the update/email/telepathic sending that finally breaks through - get in touch with us! [email protected] is best, but we'll take whatever sort of messaging that finally connects us. We have to close out sometime, and that time is very, very soon! Please check your email, Kickstarter, the post, and anything else you haven't in a while - we've been trying to get ahold of you.

Aside from those held for backers who never responded/we can't reach - we have a small number of copies of the original "Grimoire Edition" Necronomnomnom left. They will remain on sale via our website www.RedDukeGames.com until September 30, 2019.

On October first, the Bookstore Edition of The Necronomnomnom goes on sale. If you have not seen it, it is a beautiful book - containing all the same art and most of the same text (perhaps slightly "civilized" for those of less...eldritch...insight - or more of a desire to bring our dire dishes to table more quickly). It also contains an extensive appendix which demystifies the recipes for those whose sanity would otherwise break without such recourse. It is a different, though joyfully familiar book. It is also available globally, which is something we are very excited about given interest, and challenges posed by getting the book overseas. It is available for pre-order now should you wish a copy, or perhaps point your envious friends who missed the project at any of the merchants embedded in Atlach-Nacha's web...

Bookstore Edition of the The Necronomnomnom - Countryman Press

We have book signing events coming up in October, if you are in range (we'll always sign any edition):

10/5 Reads & Company - Phoenixville, PA - Signing event a Food Cart Festival

10/13 Bucks County Book Festival - Doylestown, PA - Signing event and author panel

10/29 Aaron’s Books - Lititz, PA - Signing event

The Ultimate Mystery

You who are in possession of the First Printing, the "Grimoire Edition" of The Necronomnomnom, are reminded that one of you may still pierce the veil and apprehend the Ultimate Mystery of The Book. Should you be the FIRST mortal to do so, and let us know (privately, via Facebook, Kickstarter, or email) and you will win a coveted Deluxe Edition Necronomnomnom. You MUST be in possession of (and/or possessed by) an original edition, and not a Bookstore edition. You may have obtained it as a backer, at a show, or as a gift - that does not matter - but you will need to show that you have an original edition. This is a prize for you who helped us bring such a thing into being in the first place.

Conventions News

We have been on the road relentlessly all summer, and by the Old Ones has the reaction been gratifying! We've been to several Steampunk conventions now, and remain hugely impressed with the welcome we've had from the community. What a great bunch! From the COGS Expo, to Key City, to PA S.T.E.A.M Fest - these folks have been awesome. Looking forward to the Steampunk and Fantasy Showcase in Manheim PA, in November.

Naturally, going to Providence, RI for NecronomiCON itself was a huge thing for us. Team Necronomnomnom attended together, and it was completely awesome! See the Facebook pages for pics. Brown University sent a librarian from the John Hay Library to obtain a copy of the Necronomnomnom! How cool is that?? We're as close as you can get to being in Miskatonic University's collection!

The H.P. Lovecraft Arts and Sciences store also snapped up a few signed copies to showcase in their awesome shop, thanks Carmen and Neils! We also got to meet up with the folks from The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society in person for the first time, which was awesome.  Love those folks. Check them out for the best Lovecraft audio dramas and props to be had this side of the Dreamlands.

What's Next?

Three more books are planned. What order they shall appear in is up to powers (and editorial staffs) opaque to our scryings. This may mean they are not Kickstarted - but keep an eye on our social pages (Red Duke Games and The Necronomnomnom) and Kickstarter for updates. We can tell you what we are planning:

  • Unspeakable Carols - A Tome of Lovecraftian Holiday Hymns and Cthulian Canticles
  •  The Book of Terrors - Denizens of the Outer Darkness - A Bestiary of Original Horrors
  •  The Necronomnomnom II - Hellacious Deliciousness From the Depths of the Tabletop

Thoughts? Curiosity? Reach out. We'll gladly torment you with hints and rumors...

But first, something completely different. Our next game is going to be a card game. Actually, our next two games will be card games - and we're not yet sure in which order! Both will be available on Kickstarter, likely next month if we're not doing a book first.

One is a Tarot-format premium card game called "Powers of Light and Darkness". We have signed Richard Luong, of Cthulhu Wars fame, to do the art...and it's looking predictably awesome! Check out the Ideas in Development section of RedDukeGames.com for more information on the game.

Toragyth - Reveler in Blood - Power of Darkness - The Horde

Our other near-term card game is Azrah - War of Heralds by designer Eric Fairchild, and with art by...one of you! That's right, one of our new artists is a Necronomnomnom backer! Jocarra (lead artist: Endless Realms) has been turning out some stunning art for this "My fantasy party can kick your fantasy party's breeches" self-contained card game. Feast your eyes on The Summoner - one of FIFTEEN playable Guardian classes in Azrah - War of Heralds!

Azrah - War of Heralds, The Summoner

Exciting, yes? Well, again - we would not be here without you. Our backers shall forever be in the space where our hearts once stood. You folks have been absolutely awesome, and we'd be thrilled and honored to work with you again. Feast Bravely!

Parting the Veil
almost 5 years ago – Tue, May 28, 2019 at 01:46:37 AM

Well, it's been an amazing few weeks, and as one portal readies to close - others open!

Project News

Backer business first and foremost: The lliogor's share of remaining covers will go from the amazing David to our awesome fulfillment partner this week, and thence on to most of you, while David finishes the last few. We're looking at completion in June. Long ride, we know - and we thank our genuinely beloved backers every extra day for their patience and support. You've been truly magnificent.

Sightings

Over in the convention space, backer Matt Black met up with us a the Greater Philadelphia Comic Con, and casually suggested we check out the C.O.G.S. Expo 2019 earlier this month. He then proceeded to help shoehorn us in as vendors.

A Steampunk convention? Um, sure. I used to read Girl Genius to my kids at bedtime...could be fun?

Holy moving pieces, Matt-man - what a response! I mean, we know it's a cookbook - but the crowd ate it up! I was awesome. And now we're going to make a Steampunk/Lovecraftian monster card game. Because. Actually, it's not really letting me sleep until I finish the first draft...

Revelations

Folks, we have some big news. There is going to be a mass market edition of The Necronomnomnom! That's right. Come October, Eldritch Powers willing, The Necronomnomnom will be in bookstores and in the interstitial places between places. We have caught the attention of Ancient Powers, and - thanks to you - they wish to help us spread the madness on a scale undreamed of.... (Seriously, we never dreamed this would happen. At least, we don't remember dreaming it. Does anyone else hear flute music...?)

Now, nothing will ever be quite like the book you have (or are about to have) in your  hands. The Editorial Acolytes have made adjustments to the scripture in order to spread the tentacles' reach to a wider audience - but it is looking great. It'll be a very handsome tome, if a little less wild and esoteric. Certain secrets have been redacted for the protection of the uninitiated (and so that only a bearer of the First Incarnation may solve the ultimate enigma of the book and win that Deluxe cover!).

The madness spreads as the tendrils of culinary darkness ready themselves to reach out!

Our minds are blown. Our backers are the best. And we're just getting started. News, ideas, and projects keep coming. We hope the folks who started it all will peek in now and then and see what we're up to. You can keep an eye or three on us at:

Update to Update 43 - Link Correction
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 19, 2019 at 10:33:17 PM

The link in the last email is not correct, the one in the update works - and malign entities lurking in the interstices of the Internet willing, so does this one:

Downloads, free and otherwise need some additional incantations chanted today. Stay tuned on that part. Should be working soon!

Atlach Nacha's Web Welcomes Red Duke Games, Con Pics, and Hints of Things To Come
about 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 18, 2019 at 10:08:48 PM

Beloved Cultists and Worthy Investigators - the time has come!

Red Duke Games is LIVE at RedDukeGames.com

You did this! So, you get first dibs. It's a brief window, but we are holding the announcement elsewhere until Noon EDT tomorrow. You can get one of the remaining First Edition Necronomnomnoms and shop our (small, but growing) selection of other products. You can see our first few planned products - and tell us what you think! We'll be adding many more to the "Ideas In Development" page as we go. You can also download a free PDF of "Duke It Out!" our universal combat system that lets you pit pretty much anything against anything else.

Please note that the prices are now at the retail rate for the book; and international customers will need to contact us separately to get shipping and handling pricing (for now). As promised, you did get the book for an untouchable price as a backer. For those still waiting - we are down to a clawful of you, and it won't be much longer. We've been in contact with most of you, but please feel free to reach out if you have questions.

What's Next?

Glad you asked! Next up is...Unspeakable Carols - A Tome of Lovecraftian Holiday Hymns and Cthulian Canticles, second in the Gruesome Grimoires series, and our next Kickstarter. The book will be the same format as The Necronomnomnom, but about half the thickness (at the moment...these things have a tendency to grow if fed...). If the stars align, this could be a quick one (but...everything takes 2-3 times longer than you think it will, RDG...surely you know this now...?).

Azrah - War of Heralds, our first production card game aimed at young-adults-and-up will hit Kickstarter next. Kurt Komoda art, and debut game from designer Eric Fairchild. Fun and nuanced, this is a head-to-head game for fantasy fans everywhere. It's a game of "My party can kick your party's butt" set in a rich world of immortal guardians squaring off to give their Heralds control of all creation!

Keep an eye here and on our web page and Facebook pages for launch dates and details.

We had an awesome time at The Great Philadelphia Comic Con. So many fans, newly minted and pre-existing and quite a few backers stopped by! There was also an encounter with Herbert West himself! So cool!
